AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality. The Role of Gender Equality in Building Societal Resilience

Amidst the consequences of the pandemic, rising geopolitical tensions and new global risks to face, adaptive and resilience capacities are increasingly a fundamental prerequisite for a prosperous society. Gender equality and women empowerment are known to be strong contributors to societal resilience through education, employment, and leadership.

Nevertheless, challenges and obstacles still exist as witnessed by the persistence of pay gaps and barriers to women’s labour force participation and business leadership in many countries. During the conference Paola Profeta – Full Professor, Dean for Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability, and Director of the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality at Bocconi University – together with a panel of distinguished academics and policymakers – will discuss the role of gender equality in building an inclusive and resilient society, while retracing some of the evidence offered by the research conducted by the Lab in the last year.
